Everyone interested in track needs to pickup a Winter Info Sheet from Coach Holt (or at the PVMS office). It includes important info about winter training schedule, grades, indoor meet schedule, and more.
Distance runners, your conditioning starts on Dec. 21st with 30 min runs/day during Week 1 (Dec 21-26) and alternating 30-45 min runs/day during Week 2 (Dec 28-Jan 2).
Throwers should be in the weight room as well as doing drills to strengthen the arms.
Jumpers/Sprinters should be getting active over the break (running a bit, weights, core activities, etc...)
Come Jan. 4th we will start conditioning at 3:00 at the high school - each group will be focusing on event specific conditioning (don't worry, you don't have to run tons unless you are a distance runner!).

4/27-5/2
Another great week for Panther track and field - a few more qualifiers for Herriman and State and weekend of great track weather!
Stuff for this week:
As we get toward the end of our season, it becomes increasingly important to be to practice (and be on time). Let's not give up all that we have worked for.
Tuesday we have a JV meet at Canyon View. Most athletes will be heading up to this meet (all JV athletes, those who haven't qualified yet for Herriman, and some of the Varsity athletes for a race or two - such as the boys 4x100, and the distance runners for a workout). We will leave PVHS at 2:15 (out at 2:05) and pick up the MS at 2:20 (out at 2:15). We will be home around 9:00 - total guess!
Wednesday we have our 2nd to last Youngsters meet - we need lots of helpers. So athletes please plan on staying after practice. We have been getting done with these at around 5:30-:45, so not too late. Please stay and help.
Then Friday, the qualified athletes will be heading up to Herriman. The meet is actually on Friday afternoon/evening. So we will be staying over night in the Sandy area (hotel info will be sent home with those who are invited) and returning home mid-day Saturday. All Herriman qualified athletes will need to meet at the HS on Friday morning at 8:00a.
NEXT WEEK: we head into our Region Championships!
Tuesday of next week will be our final Youngsters meet - the PV CHAMPIONSHIPS... where we will be awarding ribbons to our top 5 finishers in each event per 2 year grade level.
and then... Wednesday and Thursday we will go over to DIXIE (notice - venue change - DIXIE!) for the Region meet. All athletes V and JV will participate in their events at Region.
As usual, a thanks at the end. Everyone who is still around is doing great. Let's keep this great program growing!

Announcements for 4/20-4/25
Another great week behind us...
We are super proud of our girls 3200 runners and girls medley team that qualified for state!
This upcoming week we have a JV Meet at DHHS and a varsity meet at Snow Canyon.
The JV meet is for all those that were planning on running at last week's (cancelled) JV meet at Hurricane. We will be leaving for DH at 2:40 from PVHS (so getting out just the last few minutes of class) and then getting the MS'ers at around 2:50.
Those who aren't participating will have practice as usual on Weds.
On Friday, the Varsity team will head over to SC at 1:30 from the HS (out at the end of 3rd) and pick up the MS at 1:40 (out at 1:30).
And Saturday, the bus will leave the HS at 7:40 (be here at 7:40).
Please remember, all athletes must ride the bus over to the meets, but can ride home with their own parents after checking out with Coach.
Keep up the good work everyone... many more great performances to come.

DH Invite and the week of April 13-18
Here's this weeks email:
Great job at DH Invite this past weekend! We saw more Herriman and State Qualifiers (and some painfully close!) and a lot of Personal Records. You can check out the results at runnercard.com or at athletic.net - go to pvtrack.blogspot and hit the link. The girls took a very close 5th and the boys came out on top of a very close group to finish 2nd! Could we do the same at Region and State?! I think this shows the results of hard work and consistency at practice.

Heading into this new week we (of course) have a lot of stuff going on:
Tuesday - JV and 6th-8th at Hurricane. Pretty much all PV tracksters in grades 6-10 should plan on going to this as well as a few of the upperclass'ers. Bus will leave the HS at 2:30 at then grab the MS at 2:40. So everyone will get out of school a few minutes early.
Wednesday - another Youngsters meet! Thanks so much to everyone who is helping with these. The kids absolutely love them; and our team will reap the benefits in the coming years. So we will need a bit of help with it this week - running field events, timing, clerks, announcers, concession stands. THIS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF YOU TRACK ATHLETES - PLEASE BE THERE!
Fri-Sat - Dixie Invite. Our Varsity Invite this week is at Dixie. I know there may be a few conflicts; please do your best to let dates know you can be there after your events at the meet (or whatever else you are doing). We won't take quite as many athletes this week to the varsity meet. The bus will be leaving the HS at 1:30 on Friday, then picking up the MS shortly after. And we will leave Saturday at 7:45 from the HS.

April 2nd Announcements
Here's the email that was sent out to athletes and parents on April 2nd:
Sorry I am late with this week's email... or you can just say I am early with next week's!
Sorry I am late with this week's email... or you can just say I am early with next week's!
First - A HUGE THANKS to all those who helped at our Invite! It was an enormous success. From the coaches, athletes, parents, anyone who helped out; thank you so much. We received many compliments on having such a well-run meet especially one that it so big.
Our team is really seeing some great progress so far this season. Some of our veterans are already hitting Herriman and State qualifying marks, and many of our younger athletes are showing great improvement. Let's keep it up and keep our program growing and succeeding.
All of our spirit pack stuff is finally here. If you have paid, pick it up. If you haven't paid, pay by Wednesday (to Coach Holt, checks to PVXC). Anything that is not paid for by Wednesday will go up for sale to the rest of the team on a first come first serve basis starting Thursday of next week.
Practice: We really appreciate those that are attending practice each day. It makes such a big difference; be there! This weekend we will not have organized practice on Friday, but hopefully you can still get your workout in. Monday we will practice at 8:00a at PVHS. If you are in town, please be there.
Meets next week: On Tuesday of next week, we host our Panther Relays. We will still meet at 3:00 and practice jumping, throwing, and get set up. Then we will have our relay meet against the other region schools. This meet is a lot of fun and breaks up the season for us a bit.
Then on Friday and Saturday we have the Desert Hills Invite. This is a Varsity meet, with up to 6 entries per event. Coach will post the first draft of those entries on Wednesday - so we need to know who can't be there and let others participate. On Friday, the bus will leave PVHS at 1:30 (out at 1:15) and pick up the PVMS'ers at 1:45 (out at 1:30). Then on Saturday, we will be leaving the high school at 7:45a (be there by 7:40).
And last, Another thanks to all those who are helping with the Youngsters meets. The elementary and middle school kids are loving them. We really want to keep them growing, so spread the word. Our next meet for them in Wednesday, April 15th at 4:00p here at PVHS.
Thanks everyone.

Week of March 16 - March 21
Here's the email that was sent out this week - if you aren't getting the emails, please contact Coach Holt at pineviewtrack@gmail.com
Parents
and Athletes,
We had a great meet a
couple weeks ago for those that were able to make it. There were many
good performances and it was a good way to start the season. Our Athletes
of the Week were:
Colton Miller, Cierra
Costa, Dillan Robertson, Savannah Loris, Logan Hall and Jacey Finch.
(Someday - hopefully soon - I'll have the website updated with these
athletes info as well as the results for the rest of the team.)
This coming week is
another busy one:
We have a Youngster
Meet today (Tuesday) at 4:00. Practice will still be held as usual and
then we will host a meet for all our feeder schools. Our athletes are in
charge of the meet, so it is important that they are there until it is over. When
is it over? I don't know; we haven't done this before, so we'll just have
to see how it all goes.
On Friday and Saturday
we will be traveling to Hurricane for our first Qualifying invite of the
season. On Friday, HS'ers will be out at 1:30 and we will then come get
the MS'ers at 1:45. On Saturday, everyone competing will leave from the
high school at 7:40. For a schedule of the meet go to runnercard and open the meet schedule.
Although this meet allows for 6 individuals per event, not everyone on
the team will be participating. First, those who do not have their
fees/physical/registration (at registermyathlete.com) done by Wednesday will
not be invited. Second, some events have more athletes doing them and the
event may fill up based upon skill level. One thing that is very
important to remember (especially for athletes that might not compete this
week) is, we have a lot of meets. Next week we have a JV meet on Tuesday
at Snow Canyon (which all of our JV athletes - and some Varsity - will be
competing at). We also have our Pine View Invite next week.
Speaking of the PV
Invite...
We need to get some
things organized with it. I have various parents who have offered to help
with the dinner and concessions stand, but am still looking for someone to head
them up. If you might be able to help organize either of these, let me
know. Mostly the duties entail making sure all of the time slots are
filled up for either bringing food or working in the concessions. HELP
HERE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!
Thanks for all you do
parents. And athletes, you guys are doing great... let's keep it going.

Hurricane All-Comers and Athletes of the Week
Our first meet of the year took place on March 6. Although we were missing a few athletes with the beginning of Spring Break, those who participated represented Panther Track and Field very well. Some of our top performances came from our younger and newer athletes. On the boys' side, Kawika, Lance, and Jacob all did well in their 100m. We had a strong showing in the Long Jump from Colin, Kawika and Keaton. And our distance crew did well, sweeping the 800 and 3200. The ladies saw great field marks put up by Moani and Kaytlin in the disc, jav and shot.
Our Athletes of the Week for the Hurricane All-Comers are:
Colton Miller - Colton, a Senior Captain, earned Sprint honors with his 23.46 in the 200. This strong early season mark earned him 1st place at the meet. Colton has set a great example to all our athletes with his dedication and commitment in the off-season which has set him up for a tremendous 2015 campaign.
Cierra Costa - Cierra has been one of our top girls athletes for the past two seasons. And she started her Junior season right were she left off. She placed 10th in the 100 hurdles, 5th in the 300 hurdles, and 4th in the 200 to earn Sprint Athlete of the Week.
Dillan Robertson - Dillan put the region he is a force to be recon with in the throws with his great performance at Hurricane. Just a Sophomore in his first season of track, Dillan placed 3rd in the javelin and shot put to earn Field honors.
Savannah Loris - In her first meet ever, this Freshman showed she has great potential for the coming years. Savannah has been working extremely hard and is a wonderful example of how you can improve by coming to practice and working hard every day. If her performance at Hurricane was any indication, watch for her in the future.
Logan Hall - Logan is a Freshman knocking on the sub-5:00 door right off the bat. After a strong xc campaign, Logan is looking to be one of the Panthers top distance runners in the near future. His 5:04 placed him 3rd in his heat at Hurricane.
Jacey Finch - Jacey, another Freshman who is building on an awesome xc season, is quickly developing into one of the top distance runners on a very strong and young Panther team. Using a great kick, Jacey placed 4th in the 800 with a time of 2:34.
Congrats to all our Athletes of the Week!

Registration and Fees: Registration is done at registermyathlete.com.
