Week of April 18-23

I am too late posting for the Hurricane JV meet.  All went well there, so I won't stress.
This weekend, the varsity will be heading over to the Dixie Invite.  On Friday, the bus will leave the HS at 1:45 (out at 1:35) and then we will get the MS around 1:50 (out at 1:45).  On Saturday, the bus will leave the HS at 7:50, be there by 7:40.

DH Multi and Distance Carnie, DH Invite, and Hurricane JV Meets

More meets and more Herriman and State Qualifiers from PV Track and Field!
DH Multi and Distance Carnival: Cierra Costa and Brianna Loya both participated in the heptathlon at the DH Multi.  And both put in very strong performances.  Cierra won multiple events and almost medaled despite NH on the High Jump.  Keaton Jorgenson and Colin Tudor both did great in the decathlon (minus pole vault).  In the distance section of the meet we got a few more Herriman Qualifiers and set new school records in both the boys and girls 4x800's - congrats to everyone on those teams: Logan Hall, Skylar Abel, Paul Gaona, and Nick Hill; Jacey Finch, Alli Peterson, Rylee Holt and Caroline Clements!  New to this meet this year was an inclusion of a few other events which turned out great for Brian Johnson as he hit a State Qualifier in the discus!

DH Invite: 18 more Herriman Qualifiers and 5 new or improved State Qualifiers at DH this past weekend.  Cierra improved on her 300h mark, Neitana went to 3-0 in invites with a new jav PR, Jacey went 5:17 in her 1600, and Kawika broke off a couple big jumps to go over 20' in the long jump.  And the performance of the meet was the boys' medley team that set a new school record of 3:35.48 (despite some controversy!) - congrats to Kawika Santiago, Sampson Doyle, Paul Gaona, and Nick Hill on taking down the 15 year old record!

Hurricane JV: Some great times and marks from yesterday's JV meet at Hurricane.  We saw wins from Sylvia Brown and Julien Canales (Herriman Q) in the 1600, Seanne Smith and Evan Boyer in the 800, Logan Hall in the 3200, Jake McArthur in the 300h, and a Herriman Q from Jacob Mpungi in the 100.

Week of April 4-10

A big sigh of relief...
We had a great Pine View Invite last weekend!  And it couldn't have happened without all your help.  Athletes, parents, volunteers - thank you all!
St. George News' PV Invite article

First a run down of what is happening this week and then we'll review last week.

Tuesday is the final Youngsters Meet held at PV.  Everyone make sure you are there to help after practice.  Next Tuesday, April 12th, DHHS will take their turn hosting the Youngsters Meet - still at 4:30.

DHHS Multi's and Distance Carnie:  This meet will be held at DHHS on Thurs and Fri.  There will be a bus leaving PVHS right at the end of school (out at 2:30, leaving at 2:40); we will then go pick up the Middle Schoolers (who won't need to be released early).  Same bus schedule for both days.  Athletes may drive themselves and any siblings (but not with anyone else) with a signed release form - simply because we will be having a lot of athletes traveling to this meet.  We will make sure our races are set on Wednesday, so be at practice.

The Milford Invite on Sat. that we were planning on going to earlier in the year has been called off for us.  So we will have no meet on Saturday.

Look for a possible team party on Saturday afternoon at the park - we need to eat all the extra food from the Invite!

recap of last week:

The PV Invite was a huge success.  The smaller number of schools made the meet very manageable and everything went very smoothly (even with the weird throwing locations).  We had many more Herriman Qualifiers, and got State Qualifiers from Nick (2nd Place) and Rylee (4th) in the 1600, Mitch, Preston, Jacey (4th), and Meskerem in the 3200.  Cierra in the 300h (3rd), Paul in the 800, Kaytlin (3rd) in the disc.  And Neitana improved his state qualifying throw in the jav for the win.  Other finalist/placers were Keaton in the 110h, Alli in the 800, the boys 4x800 team that took 3rd, and the girls medley that took 3rd.  And a huge shout out to the Girls 4x800 of Jacey, Rylee, Caroline and Meskerem that set a new school record with a time of 10:00.46!
