It's time to RACE and JUMP and THROW! It's been a long time, and we are very excited to get back on the track. We will have some rules and regulations regarding Covid that we have to follow. One of those is testing... you have to get tested to participate with the team, so pay attention to the info below. Also, we've got te start getting thing organized for the PV Invite coming next week. Since we don't have a Monday meeting this week, please pay attention to the info below (and check back later as some will be updated).
Athletes of the Week: Let's take some time an recognize the outstanding efforts that have been put in this pre-season. Nominate some teammates you think have been great examples of PV Track and Field with their consistency, leadership, work ethic, and dedication. Each week we will recognize a Sprint, Field, and Distance Athlete of the Week. This recognition will come solely from your nominations, so we need them. Athlete of the Week form.
Last week of all our beginning of the season announcements (for real this time!):
- If you turn in a sponsor by Monday morning, there will still be time to get it on the shirt, so... Sponsors must be shared with Holt by this Monday (3/15) to be on the PV Invite shirt.
- Those who haven't done the parent-athlete meeting (parents and athletes) need to please check out our Parent-Athlete Meeting slides. (This takes place of our having an in-person meeting, so please do it.) One of the slides includes a place for parents to help with the PV Invite; we need a lot of help, so please consider signing up!
- Participation Fee/Register My Athlete/Physical: This must be done or you won't be allowed to participate with the team any more! Registermyathlete is super easy and only takes a few minutes to do if you have your physical on file. If you don't have a physical from this year yet, you can still do the registermyathlete just also get your physical scheduled and taken care of ASAP. If you participated in track last year and haven't transferred your fees to another sport (like track last year to XC this year), you will be able to do that for this coming track season (track last year to track this year).
- Check out the spring schedule if you haven't yet.
PV Track & Field communications: You already know about this blog since you are here. Info will be posted on here every week through the season (usually updated Sunday afternoon). If you aren't receiving our track text messages, text the code @trackprs to 81010 to be added to our list.
PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO WITH ANYONE/EVERYONE THAT YOU THINK MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN TRACK - especially Freshmen. Even if you think they are on the texts or might look at this blog, share with them the link so they for sure know that things are starting up.

Thought of the Week: "Opportunities don't happen, you create them."
-Chris Grosser
After a long year filled with all sorts of stuff, we finally get to compete again. We hope you are as excited as we are. Competition is a great opportunity to show your growth and overcome challenges. People usually meet competition with a variety of feelings: nerves, timidness, being scared, sometimes with confidence, or a variety of other emotions. First off, know these emotions are all common. So many athletes think they are the only ones that are scared before a competition. If we could all only read the thoughts going through everyone's heads, we would all see that everyone is having the same feelings. So try and use this thought to help you calm yourself and find a good place in your mind. One of the reasons we have so many emotions is we want to do well, and we're worried about how to do that and what if we don't do that. There is no simple answer to help you through this, but one idea is to remember is that we all have a journey of ups and downs; nevertheless, we can make those ups happen a little more often by making opportunities happen. You aren't going to see many people PR (set a Personal Record) who just stay in the back. Each of us in our own ways need to learn to create opportunites to do our very best. So as we head into our first competions, think of them as opportunities to grow, to learn, to shine, to improve. And go out and make those opportunities happen.
