Another great week to be a Panther... Great stuff with Mr./Mrs. PVHS, excellent efforts at the Silver and Black team time trials, and it's the start of Spring Break! Pics from Thursday are up... check them out here on the blog.
Last week or so of all our beginning of the season announcements:
- Sponsors must be shared with Holt by this Monday (3/8) to be on the PV Invite shirt.
- Those who haven't done the parent-athlete meeting (parents and athletes) need to please check out our Parent-Athlete Meeting slides. (This takes place of our having an in-person meeting, so please do it.)
- Participation Fee/Register My Athlete/Physical: This must be done or you won't be allowed to participate with the team any more! Registermyathlete is super easy and only takes a few minutes to do if you have your physical on file. If you don't have a physical from this year yet, you can still do the registermyathlete just also get your physical scheduled and taken care of ASAP. If you participated in track last year and haven't transferred your fees to another sport (like track last year to XC this year), you will be able to do that for this coming track season (track last year to track this year).
- Check out the spring schedule if you haven't yet.
- PV Track & Field communications: You already know about this blog since you are here. Info will be posted on here every week through the season (usually updated Sunday afternoon). If you aren't receiving our track text messages, text the code @trackprs to 81010 to be added to our list.PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO WITH ANYONE/EVERYONE THAT YOU THINK MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN TRACK - especially Freshmen. Even if you think they are on the texts or might look at this blog, share with them the link so they for sure know that things are starting up.

Here's the link of the new short we will be getting next year and you can order it on your own for this season and be legal. Adidas Alphaskin Sport Short Tight (black)
Thought of the Week: "The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team."

Legendary coach of, most noteably, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls and winner of 6 NBA championships with that team. When I imagine a great team, I think of all the parts coming together to make the whole: the solid role players who you can count on to get their job done everyday, the rookies who are learning from the veterans, the leaders who contribute through example, the superstars who get a lot of the glory, and even the coaches and the relationships they have with the team and the team with them. A true team includes each of these parts and everyone is just as important as the others. Looking at our team, we have so many of these similar pieces and everyone is valuable to making us a great Panther Track and Field TEAM. As you read this, take some time to think about your current role on the team and in what ways your contribute to the team (are you contributing to your very best ability in this role?). Then take some time and think about where you would like to see yourself in the next month, throughout the season, and in to years in the future (and what do you need to do to take yourself along this path?).

And finally, I'd just like to say this... as coaches we are very proud of you. It isn't easy to be committed to a tough sport like track and field where maybe the results aren't as immediate and many don't see the point or give credit to the hard work you do. It's not easy to push yourself to come out to practice in the spring of a long school year when there are so many other things you could be doing. I guess that's why so many people don't come out to do it. But, nonetheless, it's inspiring to see young athletes who want to better themselves and be part of something bigger than themselves. This is going to be a great season because of you!
