So many positive things are happening... let's keep up the good work and not hit the mid-season blues. The key thing is to make sure you are at practice!
Just something everyone needs to be doing more of... DRINK MORE WATER!
Athletes of the Week: Thanks to all those who have been nominating teammates. Keep it up. So for each discipline: Sprint, Field, and Distance, nominate your teammates who best exemplify our philosophy of hard work, commitment, and those who did great things this week. This recognition will come solely from your nominations, so we need them. Athlete of the Week form. Or text coach on our Remind with your nominees.

Lali with a PR in the disc and shot (broken at Hurr). Laney in the 800. Morgan PRed in the 200. Jessica in the 200. Brynlee in the 100. Sadie for the 1600. Paris in both the 100 and 200. A lot of great performances and personal records and season's best. The boys came out of the meet with a big team victory.
Hurricane Invite - The Hurricane Invite saw many more strong performances for our Varsity crew. Adri took 5th in the 1600 with a new personal record. Boston took 3rd in the 1600. Marcus K. advanced to the 100 final where he placed 3rd. Alli took the top time into the 400 finals with a State Qualifying mark and finshed 2nd overall. The girls 4x800 crew took 5th and the boys took 7th. Rachel placed 6th in the 200. And Marcus K. continued his exceptional meet by taking 3rd in the 200 and narrowly missing a State time. We had two girls scoring in the 3200 with Brooklyn taking 6th and Kate running a monster PR to take 8th. Bryan also ran a PR in his 5th place finish in the boys 3200. Our boys 4x100 placed 5th as well as the boys 4x200. Alli won the 800 and Adri placed 5th. The girls ran a strong 4x400 to take 2nd and the boys also ran well taking 4th. We had some solid long jumping on both sides with Marcus K. advancing to the final and Luca and Dominic barely missing out. And on the girls side both Madi (6th) and MacKenzie (9th) made the final. Bice and Doug went a strong 4th and 5th place in the jav. And in the shot, TJ made the finals (taking 8th) and earned the 2nd furthest shot put by a freshman in Utah as of now. Luca tied for 8th in the high jump. Nalu took 7th in the disc. And Dayton took 8th in the jav with a big PR. Overall the boys took 6th and the girls placed 4th despite both not placing full events and full teams with a few people out with injuries and things.
Through both meets, we continue to see big improvements. Keep pushing yourself and keep encouraging your teammates to be at practice and push themselves. It is a lot of fun to see so many of you accomplishing great things.
Alumni Update: Alex Hill competed unattached in the 800 at the USU Aggie Invite this weekend. In his first race in three years, Alex won the slow heat to take 4th overall with a great time of 1:57.
Thought of the Week: A list of ideas presented by Jon Gordon -
7 Things that will hurt your team:
1. Energy Vampires
2. Complaining
3. Ego
4. Selfishness
5. Jealousy
6. Resentment
7. Pessimism
7 Things that will help your team:
1. Love
2. Encouragment
3. Vulnerability
4. Selflessness
5. Unity
6. Communication
7. Optimism
This is a great list of ideas. How are you doing with these traits? Are there any characteristics on the "hurt" column that you could work to lessen and remove from your attitude? And on the "help side", are there some areas that you are strong at and have been a good example, or even things that you could try and improve a little bit at to help us all reach our team and individual goals?
