A great first week: a lot of athletes out, many new faces, and awesome temps (okay, maybe not that last one). It was great to have many come out to Spike Night put on by the St. George Running Center. Thanks so much for those that came and participated with the Mr. PVHS Fun Run - whether you ran/walked or helped out, thanks, thanks, thanks. This week is going to be a great one. We will be having our Silver & Black Meet. This is a team meet where we will do different events each day to help those who don't know what they're doing start figuring it out and those that do know what they're start getting back into it - after all, we have meets starting next week!
So this is real important: We need everyone to get your registermyathlete done, so PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOUR REGISTRATION, YOUR FEES, AND YOUR PARENT-ATHLETE MEETING SLIDES. Those who haven't done the parent-athlete meeting (parents and athletes) need to please check out our Parent-Athlete Meeting slides. (This takes place of our having an in-person meeting, so please do it.)
Participation Fee/Register My Athlete/Physical: This must be done this week or you won't be allowed to participate with the team any more! Registermyathlete is super easy and only takes a few minutes to do if you have your physical on file. If you don't have a physical from this year yet, you can still do the registermyathlete just also get your physical scheduled and taken care of ASAP.
If this isn't completed by the end of this week, you will not participate in the meets next week!

Thought of the Week: "How you perform on your average days is much more important than how you perform on your best days. It's easy to be great when everything clicks. Much more important is being pretty good, no matter the circumstances or situation."
-Steve Magness
I like this thought for the beginning of a season because when we start up everyone is excited and it's easy to come to practice and work hard. But that feeling soon wears off. And it's easy to show up when we are feeling awesome. But that doesn't happen everyday. If each of us can commit to getting out to practice and doing our individual best even on the bad days - the days where you're tired, you're a bit behind in school, friends want you to go do something else, a friend has made you upset, or whatever else - if we can just get out to practice and give a solid effort, we have risen above what the normal person does. And when we can string a few of those days, weeks, months together, then great things will start to happen.

PV Track & Field communications: You already know about this blog since you are here. Info will be posted on here every week through the season (usually updated Sunday afternoon). If you aren't receiving our track text messages, text the code @trackprs2 to 81010 to be added to our list.
PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO WITH ANYONE/EVERYONE THAT YOU THINK MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN TRACK - especially Freshmen. Even if you think they are on the texts or might look at this blog, share with them the link so they for sure know that things are starting up.
Check out the spring schedule if you haven't yet.
Youth Club Info: Our MS Developmental Track and Field Clinic is going strong. This group meets Monday and Thursday at 3:00a-4:15('ish) and is open to all PV students in 6th-8th grades. We will focus on each different track and field event and give athletes an opportunity to work with the coaches of each specialty to see what our middle school athletes may want to pursue. We will meet throughout the spring and participate and host multiple track meets.
