May 6 - 11

A very good week! Great job to our JV crews: girls 3rd, boys 1st! and although this is being written on Thursday, we're sure things went awesome at Sentinel and with our BYU crew as well (kind of a busy weekend, so we'll see if we get this updated on Sunday or not).

Upcoming Events:
***REMEMBER ON MEET DAYS YOU MUST BE IN CLASS AND ON TIME***
Wed-Thur 5/8-5/9 - Region @ PV 4:30p Field/5:00p Track, Var athletes. We may have some spots for our top JV athletes (we will fill in all our spots - 4/event - and all our relays, so that may open a few events for our upper JV athletes). We would love to have the whole team here and supporting, and we will need help with hurdle crew and finish line and such. So each PV Track and Field athletes is EXPECTED to be at this meet even if you aren't competing (please be out to the track at 3:30). Please note that we are still planning Region spots; nothing on meettrax is finalized until we announce it as such.
Fri-Sat 5/17-5/18 - State @ BYU, Qualified athletes. We will be leaving Thursday before State. This is basically the end of the school year, so make sure all your grades are good and assignments in before we leave. An itinerary will be posted here. We know many of you want to come and support our team, we'll try and take as many as we can, but spots will definitely be limited. It may be best to make your own transportation and lodging plans. But we'd love you up there to support if you can.

RACE REPORT - we'll get these caught up when I get a little time
JV Region - Super strong meet. Like we already mentioned, the boys took 1st and the girls 3rd - really impressive results. Meet Results. We were able to snag one more State Qualifier with Kwade in the 100. Other great performances: Nick and Benson broke 12 in the 100; Carter took 4th in the 400; 800 crew swamped everyone with a 1-5 finish with Gaige in 1st, Elliot 2nd (fastest Freshman 800 in PV history!), Evan 3rd, Ben 4th, and Liam 5th; Brennan hit a solid 1600 for 4th; Jelani placed 7th in the 110h; Cayson and Jacoby went 3rd and 7th in the 300h; The 4x100 team took 1st, so did the 4x400 and 4x800 crews; George won the shot with Carson C. 5th, and Corbin and Burkley in the top 10 at 8th and 9th; Parker was 4th in the HJ and Nick and Jelani went 5-4; Brock took 3rd in the LJ and Isaak 8th. For the girls: Avery, Sariah, and Isi went 3rd, 5th, and 7th in the 400; Brecken won the 800 with Vanessa 2nd, and Katie K. 4th; Katie F. won the 1600 and Vanessa was runner up there as well, with Jordyn 4th; Julia took 7th in the 100h; she followed that up with a 4th in the 300h while Piper was 9th; the 4x400 team won and the 4x200 team took 4th; Chelsea hit a big 3 foot PR in the shot to take 10th; Morgan took 3rd in the discus with Brynlee 5th and Aspen 7th; Sylvia also hit a nice PR in the jav to take 6th, with Morgan 7th and Piper 8th; Julia had a great set of jumps in the HJ to take 3rd at 4-10; and finally Avery took 3rd in the LJ and Meadow 10th.
BYU & Sentinel Invites - We got a few more qualifiers this weekend: Brodie in the shot, Kwade in the 200, the boys 4x100, and Seedar in the jav.  Also a huge congrats to TJ on breaking his SCHOOL RECORD once again in the discus (although it feels like we have seen this many times, and we have, don't take for granted how amazing a school record is!). Sorry I don't have to write much more today, but good job to many new PRs (we're looking at you thrower ladies) and medalists. Also, thanks so much for making the trip as stress-free as possible under weird hotel circumstances, and for just being great people that do great things especially when were in the community. Sentinel Meet Results. BYU Meet Results. Performance Chart (not updated yet... ahhh time!)

Quote of the Week -
"You have your best races when you don't put too much pressure on yourself to hit a certain time."
 - Ali Ince
Track and Field can be such a numbers driven sport - we have SQs to hit and school records, wind readings and individual and team sports. But when it ultimately comes down to it, we do our very best when we set all this aside and just COMPETE! That's what these last two weeks are about... competing. You can set aside times and all that other stuff, and just go out there and compete to your very best ability on that given day. And when we do that, our best marks will show up, State Qualifiers will happen, and our team and individual places will be what we want. All because we can now set everything else aside and just go COMPETE!
