Great job at the meets this last week. For those heading out of town this break, enjoy and try and get some sort of workouts in. Those in town, make sure you talk to your event coaches about the plan for practice. When we get back, it's going to be a very busy week! We need to focus on getting the PV Invite ready to roll. Parents, please sign up to help (signup for concessions here - even if you already submitted your name / we are also looking for help at events); and athletes, make sure you have scheduled to be here and available to help on Friday, March 22nd (11:45a-10:00pm'ish) and Saturday, March 23rd (8:00a-2:00pish)

The girls 4x100 took 3rd and the boys took 6th. Avery ran a very solid 400 to take 3rd. Spencer 2nd, Colebin 3rd, and Gaige 5th in the 400. Brianna took 2nd in the 800 and Katie K. took 8th. Snow Canyon Invite - Well done at our first Varsity invite of the year. The girls took 6th and the boys took 3rd. In the combined team points (boys and girls) we were 3rd.
Full results can be found here, but here are some of our highlights: We started off season with a bunch of State Qualifiers (SQ) - Kate in the 1600 and 3200; Bridger and Porter both in the 1600 and 3200; also Talmage and Kyler in the 3200; Tori in the high jump and 100h; and the girls 4x200. The highlight of the meet had to be our throws crew: Tea hit a SQ in the shot; Ethan, Colton, and TJ all hit SQs in the shot and discus and were hitting huge marks. Huge congrats to TJ on a NEW SCHOOL RECORD in the shot put with a heave of 57-03! Some of our other great performances were Jake in the 1600 and 800, Elle and Brecken's big PRs (Personal Records) in the 3200, strong relays for both boys and girls 4x400s and the boys 4x800, and Claire just missing state marks in the lj and hj.
Our PV Track and Field Performance Chart has been update to reflect this week's meets. Our 7 marks from JV @ SC is the highest number of performances we've had (been keeping this record since 2016) from a JV meet hit our standards, and our 47 marks from the SC Invite is a new school record! (Topping the 41 marks we had hit the standard at last year's PV Invite.) We also included 3 new marks on our All-Time Top Performances: Colton's shot and discus throws are our 21st and 24th all-time boy's individual performances, and TJ's shot moved him up to the 7th best PV performance of all-time. The number of marks hitting our standard is really very impressive and a testament to our amazing program and our growth (even just 6 years or so ago, we recorded just over 60 total marks hitting our standard and to have 47 in one meet is just crazy!) Check out the performance chart and see where you rank, what marks you have to get to earn our standards, and our incredible school records!
Quote of the Week -
"If you hang around 5 positive people, you will be the 6th. If you have around 5 negative people, you will be the 6th. If you hang around 5 intelligent people, you will be the 6th. If you hang around 5 idiots, you will be the 6th." - Allistair McCaw
We really are the people we hang around. So evaluate, who do you want to be? And whatever the answer, start surrounding yourself with those people. For our team, we would hope that you want to be enthusiastic, hard working, supportive, and confident. So are you hanging around people like that? Are you like that and helping others to become that way as well?
