Week of March 16 - March 21

Here's the email that was sent out this week - if you aren't getting the emails, please contact Coach Holt at pineviewtrack@gmail.com

Parents and Athletes,
We had a great meet a couple weeks ago for those that were able to make it.  There were many good performances and it was a good way to start the season.  Our Athletes of the Week were:
Colton Miller, Cierra Costa, Dillan Robertson, Savannah Loris, Logan Hall and Jacey Finch.  (Someday - hopefully soon - I'll have the website updated with these athletes info as well as the results for the rest of the team.)

This coming week is another busy one:
We have a Youngster Meet today (Tuesday) at 4:00.  Practice will still be held as usual and then we will host a meet for all our feeder schools.  Our athletes are in charge of the meet, so it is important that they are there until it is over.  When is it over?  I don't know; we haven't done this before, so we'll just have to see how it all goes.

On Friday and Saturday we will be traveling to Hurricane for our first Qualifying invite of the season.  On Friday, HS'ers will be out at 1:30 and we will then come get the MS'ers at 1:45.  On Saturday, everyone competing will leave from the high school at 7:40.  For a schedule of the meet go to runnercard and open the meet schedule.  Although this meet allows for 6 individuals per event, not everyone on the team will be participating.  First, those who do not have their fees/physical/registration (at registermyathlete.com) done by Wednesday will not be invited.  Second, some events have more athletes doing them and the event may fill up based upon skill level.  One thing that is very important to remember (especially for athletes that might not compete this week) is, we have a lot of meets.  Next week we have a JV meet on Tuesday at Snow Canyon (which all of our JV athletes - and some Varsity - will be competing at).  We also have our Pine View Invite next week.

Speaking of the PV Invite...
We need to get some things organized with it.  I have various parents who have offered to help with the dinner and concessions stand, but am still looking for someone to head them up.  If you might be able to help organize either of these, let me know.  Mostly the duties entail making sure all of the time slots are filled up for either bringing food or working in the concessions.  HELP HERE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!

Thanks for all you do parents.  And athletes, you guys are doing great... let's keep it going.

Hurricane All-Comers and Athletes of the Week

Our first meet of the year took place on March 6.  Although we were missing a few athletes with the beginning of Spring Break, those who participated represented Panther Track and Field very well.  Some of our top performances came from our younger and newer athletes.  On the boys' side, Kawika, Lance, and Jacob all did well in their 100m.  We had a strong showing in the Long Jump from Colin, Kawika and Keaton.  And our distance crew did well, sweeping the 800 and 3200.  The ladies saw great field marks put up by Moani and Kaytlin in the disc, jav and shot.

Our Athletes of the Week for the Hurricane All-Comers are:

Colton Miller - Colton, a Senior Captain, earned Sprint honors with his 23.46 in the 200.  This strong early season mark earned him 1st place at the meet.  Colton has set a great example to all our athletes with his dedication and commitment in the off-season which has set him up for a tremendous 2015 campaign.

Cierra Costa - Cierra has been one of our top girls athletes for the past two seasons.  And she started her Junior season right were she left off.  She placed 10th in the 100 hurdles, 5th in the 300 hurdles, and 4th in the 200 to earn Sprint Athlete of the Week.

Dillan Robertson - Dillan put the region he is a force to be recon with in the throws with his great performance at Hurricane.  Just a Sophomore in his first season of track, Dillan placed 3rd in the javelin and shot put to earn Field honors.

Savannah Loris - In her first meet ever, this Freshman showed she has great potential for the coming years.  Savannah has been working extremely hard and is a wonderful example of how you can improve by coming to practice and working hard every day.  If her performance at Hurricane was any indication, watch for her in the future.

Logan Hall - Logan is a Freshman knocking on the sub-5:00 door right off the bat.  After a strong xc campaign, Logan is looking to be one of the Panthers top distance runners in the near future.  His 5:04 placed him 3rd in his heat at Hurricane.

Jacey Finch - Jacey, another Freshman who is building on an awesome xc season, is quickly developing into one of the top distance runners on a very strong and young Panther team.  Using a great kick, Jacey placed 4th in the 800 with a time of 2:34.

Congrats to all our Athletes of the Week!
