Nov 30 - Dec 5: Track's Back!

First thing... it's great to be back! It's been an interesting 8 months since we had our season brought to a halt last year. But here we are, on the verge of a new season and it is time to start putting work in. Those of you who will be (or already are) participating in a winter sport, have an amazing season, stay healthy, do great things and we'll see you when your season finishes up. Just know that we will be pushing ourselves toward our team goals and are excited for you to join us and add to the things we are building on now.

Below is our schedule for the week. The thing you are going to hear from us a million times and then again is that now is the time to put in the work for the goals you want to achieve in the spring track season. It is almost impossible to be sitting around doing nothing and then to expect to contribute come March, April and May. Even if the schedule is a little busy right now (maybe work, maybe a few other things), come out every day that you can and it will make a huge difference.

PV Track & Field communications: Well you already know about this blog. Info will be posted on here every week through the season (usually updated Sunday afternoon). If you aren't receiving our track text messages, text the code @trackprs to 81010 to be added to our list.
PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO WITH ANYONE/EVERYONE THAT YOU THINK MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN TRACK - especially Freshmen. Even if you think they are on the texts or might look at this blog, share with them the link so they for sure know that things are starting up.

Schedule for the Week:
Distance Crew: Mon-Fri at PVHS, Monday - 8:00a, Tuesday - Thursday regular practice schedule 3:00p-5:00p, Friday - 12:45p, Saturday - group run 8:00a location TBA - this week's workouts

Sprint Crew and Jumpers: Wednesday, Friday - regular practice schedule 3:00p-5:00p (next week will be Mon, Wed, and Fri)

Throwers: Tuesday and Thursday - 3:00p

Participation Fee/Register My Athlete/Physical: Let's get these all taken care of soon. Registermyathlete is super easy and only takes a few minutes to do if you have your physical on file. If you don't have a physical from this year yet, you can still do the registermyathlete just also get your physical scheduled and taken care of ASAP. If you participated in track last year and haven't transferred your fees to another sport (like track last year to XC this year), you will be able to do that for this coming track season (track last year to track this year). Other than that, let's not worry about participation fees until at least after the holidays.

2nd Quarter Grades: determine your eligibility for the first of the track season. Let's get everything worked out in the next couple weeks, so we don't have to stress about it later.

Thought of the Week: "Consistency. Consistency compounds. Small steps repeated over and over again lead to big gains. Don't aim to be consistently great. Aim to be great at being consistent. Be good enough over and over again. That's how you become great."
-Brad Stulberg
There it is... The whole message of an off-season training program. You won't be great at your specific skill (throwing, jumping, sprinting, distance running) in December. But when you are consistent at the small steps - showing up to practice for the next few weeks, putting in some work over the holidays, doing the work your coaches prescribe for you, having a good attitude - you will become great when it matters most. Same message applies to everything in life, including school. Don't try and be the smartest kid in class or try and save your grade with one huge push... instead work on being consistent at doing whatever it is you should day in and day out. Then you'll be amazed to see where you end up!
