May 1 - 6 JR Region and Sentinel Invite (Cedar JV and Invite Recap) **Updated with Itinerary for Sentinel**

It's incredible that we are finishing up another school year and season already. This has been a truly historic season for PV track and there is no better way to end it than historically! The JV crew has JV Region this Tuesday and then the Varsity runners will be headed up to Mt. Ridge HS for the Sentinel Invite on Friday. Next week we have Region, and then on to State.

A quick announcement to remind everyone that if you got a new uniform this year and haven't paid for it, please do. Fines will be added to your school accounts this week. $35 for the top and $25 for shorts/spandex.

Also an important reminder about transportation rules: Athletes are only allowed to drive themselves or with their own parents. Athletes you cannot drive with your friends or with anyone who is not your guardian (including other family members and neighbors), unless a written plan is approved by PVHS administration before the meet. Parents and athletes, thanks for following this district rule, it helps us keep our athletes safe.

Final announcement for this week: 8th graders through Juniors, plan on getting your physicals for next year (everyone needs a new one each school year) at PVHS on Monday, May 8th. Get paperwork from the office and have the prephysical and insurance info complete and all parent signatures done prior to coming to do your physical.

Just kidding... one more announcement: 2023 XC Info Meeting - Weds., May 3rd, 5:30p-6:15p in the PVHS lecture hall. Please spread the word to anyone one interested in joining the most awesome (besides track, of course!) and succesful program in PV history. Apr. 17 - 22 Dixie Invite (Crimson Recap)

Thanks again for the help at this week's Youth meet; glad they are done, but it is great that we do them. We're headed into the last bit of our season. Don't be slacking because we've been going for awhile and it seems like the end is still a ways away - we actually only have a month until State, 3 weeks until Region, 2 weeks until JV Region, and really only a few meets left. So refocus on all the stuff that will help you be successful (sleep, hydration, keeping stress low by being caught up in your classes, and being to practice every day!) and refocus on your individual goals and our team goals.

Overall, both teams took the win with the boys over SC by 17 and the girls ahead of DH by 10!

Crimson Invitational: Results The more athletes we have that buy into the team concept, the better this team does and the better individuals are doing too. Congrats to our new State Qualifiers: Ashley in the 200, Rachel in the 100, the boys 4x400 relay, the boys 4x800 relay (and a new SCHOOL RECORD!), Adri in the 800, and Abe in the 100. We also had a ton of medalists who helped our team have another tremendous showing - The boys took 4th, and the girls just got inched out of the win and took 2nd. Awesome job for both teams even though we didn't load up the events and were missing a few key people on each side. If you're not stoked about what the team is doing, then you need to spend more time at the meets and at practice with the team and feel the energy. Beyond our SQs and School Records, other top performances: Brook 2nd in 3200; Tori 4th in 100h; Ashley 2nd in 100; MacKenzie 5th and Emmalee 6th in 400; Girls 800 took 5 of the top 6 spots with Adri 1st, Emmalee 2nd, Kate 3rd, Elle 5th, and Katie 6th; Ashley 3rd in 200 (she now holds the Freshman school record in both the 100 and 200); Kate won the 1600, Brook 3rd, Adri 6th; Talmage went 4th and Keaton 5th in the 1600, Bender took 7th and broke our Freshman school record; Tori 2nd in the hj, with Claire and Isi tied for 5th; Lauren got 7th in the disc; Sawyer won the jav, Franklin 3rd, and Seedar 6th; Colton hit a big 50+ foot throw to take 2nd in shot with TJ in 4th; Colton, Brodie and Frank went 6, 7, 8 in the disc; and finally, Tea continues to do great things in the shot and took 2nd.

Hurricane Invitational: Results Another great meet for the team. Because this was a one-day meet, it gave opportunities for some of our upper JV to jump into races as the Varsity limited many of their events. Some of our top results: Katie and Elle took 3rd and 4th in the 1600. The boys 1600 hit some good PRs including three Freshman (Liam, Jake, and Trevor) hitting right on the door of 5:00. Tori also placed 5th in the 300h and Robin ran a huge PR to place 10th. Dom and Braxton placed 5th and 6th in the 300h. Sariah ran a strong PR in the 800. Bridger placed 3rd in the 800 followed by Diego in 8th. Brecken took 6th in the 3200, and Keaton took 3rd for the boys. Jade took 2nd in the 200 and earned a SQ. The girls 4x400 took 2nd. 2023 Performance Chart: Here our the top performances from PV Track and Field for the 2023 season. This team is continuing to impress on a historic level. Once again we had more marks hit our standard than at any DH meet (and tying our 2nd most of any week)!

Youth Track - Youth meet at 5:30p on Tuesday at PVHS. Registration starts at 5:00p. $1/event.

JV @ Snow Canyon: Results A lot of PRs were hit by the JV crew over to Snow Canyon in our first nice weather meet of the year. Athletes who hit Personal Records: 100 boys - Max, Colebin, Carson B., Jace, Jesus, Paul, Tracen, and Jacoby. 100 girls - Kalley, Cailyn, Hiley, Rowyn, and Jaylee. 200 boys - everyone that ran!. 200 girls - everyone that ran! 400 boys - Kevin, Evan, Boz, Dane, Grant, Nick, AJ, Coleman, Parker. 400 girls - Bella. 800 boys - Ben, Jaxon L. 800 girls - Sariah. 1600 boys - Evan, Jamin, Coleman. 3200 boys - Keaton, Jake, Liam. 3200 girls - Brecken, Laney, Alianna. 110h - Quincy, Trevor, Ryder, Nick. 300h boys - Trevor. Shot Put boys - Damian. Shot Put girls - Lauren. Discus boys - Kevin, Corbin, Landen, Boston, Brock. Discus girls - Charity, Amelia. Javelin boys - Brock. Javelin girls - Brynlee, Amelia, Elsie, Kamaile, Sarah, Nivia. High Jump boys - Nick.

Desert Hills Invitational: Results The team is really coming together and many awesome things happened this past weekend. We had State Qualifiers from both the girls 4x200 and 4x400 teams (as they also took the wins), Trey in the 400 and 800 (where took the win), Tori in the 100 hurdles, TJ in the discus, and Porter and Bridger both in the 1600. State qualifying by time/mark is such a huge deal - it basically means you're on track to place in the top 8 at State historically. We also had another school record set (the third this year by a member of the guys team), when Sawyer bombed his final attempt at the javelin to a mark of 190-03; the #6 mark in the nation so far this year! Overall the boys took 3rd (not far off of Cedar), and the girls won the meet! It takes a huge team effort to place so well in a meet with the best region in the state and things are coming together at a good time for us - we could still use a few spots filled in with points and athletes, so if there is anyone out there that you think could help our team, get them out to practice this week. Here's a breakdown of our scorers - girls 1600: Brook 3rd, Katie 6th, Elle 7th. Boys 1600: Porter 2nd, Bridger 3rd. Boys 4x800: 5th. Girls 3200: Brecken 5th. Boys 3200: Keaton 5th.
