Dec. 21-Jan. 2

Hope everyone has a safe and happy holidays! It would obviously be a great idea to be working out over the next two weeks. And we would really like to make a big push to get a strong crew out for practice when we return from the break, so get to recruiting.

Check out the spring schedule if you haven't yet.

PV Track & Field communications: You already know about this blog since you are here. Info will be posted on here every week through the season (usually updated Sunday afternoon). If you aren't receiving our track text messages, text the code @trackprs to 81010 to be added to our list.
PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO WITH ANYONE/EVERYONE THAT YOU THINK MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN TRACK - especially Freshmen. Even if you think they are on the texts or might look at this blog, share with them the link so they for sure know that things are starting up.

Schedule for the Break:
Distance Crew group runs: Mon. 21st PVHS 8:00a; Weds. 23rd 8:00a Warner Valley Exit; Mon. 28th 8:00a PVHS; Weds. 30th 8:00a PVHS; Mon. 4th 8:00a PVHS this week's workouts

All other event groups: on own

Participation Fee/Register My Athlete/Physical: Let's get these all taken care of soon. Registermyathlete is super easy and only takes a few minutes to do if you have your physical on file. If you don't have a physical from this year yet, you can still do the registermyathlete just also get your physical scheduled and taken care of ASAP. If you participated in track last year and haven't transferred your fees to another sport (like track last year to XC this year), you will be able to do that for this coming track season (track last year to track this year). Other than that, let's not worry about participation fees until at least after the holidays.

Thought of the Week: "Practice means approaching something deliberately, with presence, and with the intention to improve and grow. Anything you value can be practice."
-Brad Stulberg
Coming into the new year, people often like to set resolutions and goals to try and do things better (live better, sleep better, eat better, workout better, whatever). If we all took the time to live this quote, each of us would achieve these things at which we set out to do better. So try applying this principle to all areas of your life - ESPECIALLY TRACK PRACTICE - and approach areas you would like to approve with a focused presence and intention on growth.

Dec. 14-19

Last week of the quarter! First, that means get your grades all good. Second, that means we are headed to break next week; let's get a good week of workouts in before we are on our own for a couple weeks. Just a reminder that right now is a great time to recruit and get some friends out. KEEP IN MIND, WE ARE WORKING ON ALL TRACK AND FIELD EVENTS RIGHT NOW, not just distance runners, but sprints, jumps and throws as well!

Check out the spring schedule if you haven't yet.

Thought of the Week: "Remember this: You are free to chose, but you are not free from the consequences of your choice."
-unknown
Everyday we are faced with hundreds of choices - many insignificant, some with lasting importance. Same thing goes as we approach our track season. Many athletes want to set PRs, win State Championships, become the best they can. However, we often forget that each of these positive signs of growth are consequences from choices we made days, weeks, months and even years before. These coming weeks, you will be free to choose to workout or not. But with those choices comes a consequence that you will need to live with. Will you be happy with those consequences or upset?

Dec. 7-12

Things are starting to come together in a positive way for a track season. We see fall seasons come to a conclusion and winter sports are starting to have events, our spring schedule is starting to come together, and we are able to hold practices now.

We'd like to challenge each one of you to not only set a goal for yourself to come to practice, but to bring someone along with you. Now is a great time to recruit and get your friends to come out with us. Since we are all starting off new right now, it is a perfect opportunity to introduce some friends our sport. Plus it is so much more fun to have more friends out with us. AND KEEP IN MIND, WE ARE WORKING ON ALL TRACK AND FIELD EVENTS RIGHT NOW, not just distance runners, but sprints, jumps and throws as well!

2nd Quarter Grades: determine your eligibility for the first of the track season. Let's get everything worked out in the next couple weeks, so we don't have to stress about it later.

Thought of the Week: "If we wait until we're ready, we'll be waiting for the rest of our lives."
-unknown
We hear the idea of, "I'll get started when I'm ready," often in life; and a lot in running - I'll come to practice when I'm in shape, I'll race when I'm fast, etc. No point in sitting around forever. If you don't start somewhere, you'll never start. This coming week, we'll have an opportunity for some of you to run a time trial. We might be a little nervous and probably a bit unprepared. But if we wait until we're ready, we'll be waiting forever. Others of you will just be getting started with some short runs and/or lifting, but the lesson is no less important. The time to start is now!
