Weeks of Dec. 17 - Jan. 6

Things are starting to come together for another great Panther track season!

  • Distance Runners -  On December 17 the distance runners will begin winter training.  Practice starts at 3:00p down at the track.  The focus of these few days before the Christmas break is to get you moving again and committed to running daily during the break.  It is very important that the distance runners show up to practice before the break and then run during the break.  Your workouts have been uploaded on to your Final Surge accounts (workouts can also be found here on the blog).  Use your Final Surge to keep track of your running over the break.  Those who don't record your workouts (either because you didn't run or just don't update your Final Surge) will begin workouts back at Week 1 in January when we come back from the break.
  • Sprints and Field events - Your workouts will begin when we get back from the break.
An info packet with winter track info, spring schedule, fundraiser info, etc. will be available to pic up in Coach Holt's room at the HS or in Coach Decker's room at the MS.

Over the break, we encourage everyone to use this HIIT workout twice a week to work on strength and fitness as we start working into the season.

Everyone who is doing swim, bball or wrestling, keep having a great season... we will see you in Feb or early March.

Thought of the week(s): "Winter break is a great test for athletes.  Your coach and teammates are no longer with you.  You're on your own.  Times like these are what separate the good and the GREAT."
-Tyler Pence
A great thought to get us going and moving into the break.  In April and May everyone is going to want to travel to Varsity meets in Salt Lake, everyone is going to be trying to hit Herriman and State Qualifiers, everyone is going to want to run Varsity at Region.  But its a pretty safe bet, that the thing that separates those who accomplish these goals from those who don't will be the habits and the skills developed over the next few weeks when it seems like their is no urgency and it doesn't matter if I get my run in and my other workouts done or not...
