Beginning of the Season Info

We are really excited for the beginning of the season.  We've had a great winter of conditioning, but it is time to get real track and field started!  We will be holding practices M-F at 3:00p each day (including the short day on Monday and ACT day on Tuesday).
Here's the flyer sent home for the beginning of the season... Please take a look at the whole thing.

Welcome to the 2018 Pine View Track and Field season

Here are a few things we would like all of you (parents and athletes) to know as we head into the season:

Coaches – At PV we have always taken pride in the quality of our coaches. It is no different this year.
Our assistants have great knowledge of their respective disciplines and will coach you to do the best
you can (when YOU put the effort in). As a member of this team, you are fully expected to follow the
coaches’ schedules and workouts and act appropriately toward each one of them.

Practice – practice is what makes you good. If you aren’t there or are late, you are hurting yourself and
this team. As a result, you run the risk of discipline or even being dismissed from the team. There are
also practices on Friday. I know that sometimes we want to get out of here earlier for the weekend, but
it is very important to not miss any day of practice, especially right before the weekend. So be there.
Practice will always be held at 3:00p at PVHS (even on short days), unless specifically told otherwise.

Youth Development Camp -- We will be holding practice for 6-8 graders on Mondays and Thursdays
at 3:00.), so spread the word on that.  A meet schedule for Youngsters can be found on the same link
as our team schedule.

Meets and rides – your attendance at meets is required! So please plan on being at them. Because
this is a team sport and we are trying to reach team goals, we as coaches ask that you please plan
on staying throughout the whole track meet to support everyone. Those who would like to ride home
with their parents (no one else’s) can do so by signing out with the coaches releasing you at the
END OF THE MEET. You MUST RIDE THE BUS TO MEETS or you will be ineligible for the meet.

Bad Weather – It’s Spring, there will be days with bad weather. If so, we will still have some sort of
practice. Also, plan on bad weather at meets – it always happens!

School – It’s important, so do well. At no time should your education slip because of track or any other
thing. However, a dedicated athlete will make sure that he/she is doing what is necessary to do well in
school before it becomes a problem. If you miss days (and you will with meets) get the work and get it
made up. If you fall behind, arrange to talk with teachers and get things straightened out. Please realize
that you are still expected to be at practice and shouldn’t miss (talk with your teachers, take tests, get
homework, etc… before school or at lunch if at all possible).

Coaches will be doing grade checks throughout the season, and you will be asked to show your grades
every couple weeks. If there are academic problems (as defined by the coach) you may be asked to take
time off from the team to fix the problems.

and finally, YOU – Although this is a team sport, it is comprised of many individuals on whom we all rely.
As you are one of those, it is expected that as a member of this team you give an all-out effort in every
way. That means at practice, at school, and in every other aspect of your life (foods and drink you put into
your body, the amount of sleep you get, your attitude, and more…) – so surround yourself with good friends
who will support you and help you reach your individual goals and our team goals.

Paperwork and Physicals - are at registermyathlete.com.  This must be complete (including physical and
fees paid) by March 5th or you will not be allowed to practice/compete with the team.

Fees- School activity fees are $85. This is set by the District and covers transportation costs. This needs to
be paid by March 5. Take the money to the High School finance office and then show Coach the receipt.
IF YOU ARE PAYING YOUR FEE THROUGH YOUR FUNDRAISER, DO NOT TELL THE FINANCE OFFICE
THIS.  JUST PAY THE FUNDRAISER, BRING THE RECEIPT TO COACH HOLT, LET HIM KNOW THE PLAN
AND IT WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF.  Other fees explained below:

Uniforms - Uniforms will be purchased through the school.  Please wait for more information to be released
about uniform purchases (we are waiting on a few things with these).  Fundraiser money MAY be used to
purchase uniforms.  Again, if that is what you would like to do with your fundraiser money, JUST PAY THE
FUNDRAISER TO THE PVHS FINANCE OFFICE, BRING THE RECEIPT TO HOLT AND LET HIM KNOW
WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO WITH THE MONEY.

Hotel Fee - $25 hotel fee x2 (every athlete who travels to Orem and/or Herriman is required to pay this fee –
for each meet - not everyone will travel to these meets). And again, if this is what you would like to do with
your fundraiser money, JUST PAY THE FUNDRAISER TO THE PVHS FINANCE OFFICE, BRING THE
RECEIPT TO HOLT AND LET HIM KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO WITH THE MONEY.

Fundraiser- To help cover the cost of all sorts of things, we are asking each athlete to participate in our
fundraisers. Stuff fundraiser $ can go toward: $25 hotel fee x2, uniform (see important note above),
$85 participation fee (see important note above).
