Mr. PVHS Events for track

Our Track and XC team will be hosting two Mr. PVHS events in the coming weeks... and we need everyone to participate! If you don't know, Mr./Miss PVHS is a program where PVHS students help raise money for a (usually) young student with special physical needs. In the past 11 years, we have raised over $150,000 dollars to help with medical and other bills for families. This year's participant is Adam Skouson an 8 year old with Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) - a condition that causes tumors.

To help Adam and his family, Track and XC will be hosting the Mr. PVHS Fun Run and the Root Beer Mile. Check out the following info to see how you can help.

Mr. PVHS Fun Run
The Track and Field team is HOSTING the race this year, so we need everyone's help! The run will be on Saturday, Feb. 26th at Pine View Middle School. Race starts at 9:00a.
How you can help:
Those that don't want to run/walk (also athletes, family, friends), we need help with day of race stuff:
  • Packet-Pickup and day of race Registration. This group will help pass out shirts to those who have preregistered and help with day of race registration. We will need the registration crew from 8:00a-9:00a on the 26th. We will need around 15 people for this.
  • Pointers on the course. This group will stand at corners and help runners go the right direction. Pointers will need to be there from 8:30a-9:45a. We will need around 10 people for this.
  • Snack Table. This group will help with the post race snacks - cut up fruit, help with water and Gatorade. Snack crew will need to be there from 9:00a-10:00a. We will need around 5 people for this.
And very important in all of this is T-Shirt Sponsors. We need everyone's help (parents please help with this) in getting sponsors for the T-Shirts (this money for these shirts cannot come out of the registration fees, and we want to donate as much as possible to Adam and the Skouson family). We can also piggyback this onto our sponsorship for our big track invite.
  • $50 gets a business (or a family or whomever else) a sponsorship name on the back of the Mr. PVHS Fun Run T-Shirt (we will order 150). We need to raise around $600 to cover the cost. A business can donate more if they'd like (just specify how much they would like to donate to Mr. PVHS)! The donation money needs to go into the Track and Field account at PVHS as a sponsor and then we will pay for the shirts from there. If paying for a sponsor using Venmo, please have the description say "Track sponsor - Mr PVHS shirts" and you can find the schools Venmo at pineview.org. If paying by card or business check (no private checks) pay at PVHS finance office (checks made our to PVHS). Sponsorships need to be turned into Coach Holt by Feb. 14th to get on the shirt.
  • If a business would like to also sponsor our PV Track and Field Invitational (the largest early season track meet in Utah), they can make their donation $100 (or more!) - $50 to Mr. PVHS and $50 to PV Track - and be placed on both the Mr. PVHS shirt and the PV Invite Shirt (with over 200 printed). A sponsorship of $100 will get the business/sponsor an additional link on our team website. We have a goal of at least 20 PV Invite sponsors this year... again, parents we need your help with this. These sponsors are what got us new hurdles, blocks, high jump mats, and throwing equipment in the last couple years.
Root Beer Mile
The Root Beer Mile will be held on Friday, Feb. 11th right after school (app. 12:20) on the back grass at PVHS. Anyone can join us in this fun event. XC runners, we really "expect" to see you there. How you can participate:
  • Run...! Cost is $25 (again, all the money is going to Adam). Pay at the finance office and tell them it is for Mr. PVHS Root Beer Mile. You can pay yourself, or ask for donations, or get people to "bet" on you. Runners need to bring 4 cans (12oz.) of unopened Root Beer to the event.
  • Bet on a runner. Don't want to run? Donate money to someone who is and you will be placed in a drawing for prizes - each dollar is one entry. And if your runner wins, you will also be placed in a special drawing for winners prizes.
