Quote of the Week -
"You don't get results by focusing on results. You get results by focusing on the habits and behaviors that produce results." - Habits That Make a Champion
The last couple weeks, we've talked about working through the mindsets that hold us back by keeping us in a safe place rather than pushing through and being brave. This week's thought is about how we can start making progress in our mental preparation that will help us produce better results. Tomorrow in our team meeting, we are going to use some examples and practice the skills talked about in this quote. So I want each of you to think about what are the habits and behaviors that produce results AND what are the things YOU CAN CONTROL about these habits and behaviors.
Race Reports:
PV Invite - A hugely successful meet for PV. We have to give our biggest shout-out to Kiera - her 49-4.25 Shot Put was the 2nd longest throw ever in Utah, and she broke the 4A State Record by 2 feet! The throw also ranks as the 4th best throw in the country right now. It was amazing to watch and a well-earned reward for the hard work and consistency she puts in every day. Great job Kie, so amazing! We also hit a bunch more State Qualifiers: Paul in the Long Jump, Mason in the 3200, both boys and girls 4x800 teams, Jake and Benji in the 1600, Tevye in the 800, and Avery in the 1600. Mailey won the Championship Discus and took 4th in the Championship Shot, the girls 4x800 were Championship champs, of course Kiera was a Championship winner in the shot, Tevye was the Invite winner in the 800, Ethan took 4th in the Shot and Disc for the Championship, Paul was 7th in the Championship LJ, and the girls 4x400 took 7th in the Championship. In all that mix we had 36 PRs and 31 Season's Bests.
Alumni Report - Trey and Bridger had very solid meets for UVU at the Utah Tech meet. Trey set a PR in the 5000 running a 14:32 and Bridger ran a strong 3:57 for the 1500.
Athletes of the Week - With Spring Break, we didn't honor anyone last week. So we'll double up this week.
Youth Track - This Track and Field Skills Camp for 6th-8th graders is designed to help our young athletes learn the skills and basics of a variety of track and field events in a fun and well-coached atmosphere. Skills camp will participate in their own workouts any days of the week from 3:00-4:30p. Spread the word to those who might want to participate.
