Week of Mar. 9-14

Time for our first meets! We've had a great preseason and now its time to see what we're ready to do. Some athletes will be competing at Desert Hills on Tuesday and others at Snow Canyon on Fri/Sat. We will also be hosting our first youth meet (K-8th grade) on Thursday. We will host two youth meets and all PV track athletes will be required to stay and help at at least 1 of them. The meets will run from 4:00p-6:00p. So look at your schedule and plan on whether you can help at this first meet on Thursday (3/12) or April 16. (We will sign up at the team meeting on Monday.)

Schedule for the Week:

Friday and Saturday: Snow Canyon Invite (Varsity) - start times: Fri. 3:00p / Sat. 9:00 (click "schedule" link for full schedule; bus times: Fri. bus leaves PVHS at 1:40 and will then pick up at PVMS (HS out at 1:35 and MS out at 1:50) / Sat. bus leaves PVHS at 7:30a (no pick up at the MS)

Transportation to/from Meets: An important note for athletes and parents... All competing athletes must ride the bus to meets. We ask that athletes stay throughout the meet (even after their events) to support our TEAM. Athletes may ride home with their parent/guardian at the end of the meet and upon checking out with a coach (however, you may only ride home with your own parent).

Uniforms: We are picking up our uniforms MONDAY! You can preview what you want and sizes Monday morning or at lunch. You must pay before you can collect your uniform. Please pay the PVHS finance office ASAP (no checks) - except where noted. See pics below:

Spirit Gear: The first order of spirit gear is in. If you ordered something come pick it up in Coach Holt's room. The order is open again (this will be our only other opportunity to order spirit gear). The order is going to close on Wednesday (although it says Friday, we are moving it up to make sure you get your gear ASAP). Order can be found at pvtrack20.itemorder.com. *IMPORTANT* None of this gear is required, and this IS NOT THE UNIFORM (the uniform is explained above). This gear is for practice and to show off our PV Track and Field pride (for athletes, family, friends...)

Registration: You will not be able to compete without having your registermyathlete complete (including physical) and participation fee paid. Please have these taken care of.

Youngsters: Practice held Monday and Thursdays 3:00p-4:30. Schedule is nearly finished for our Younsters (look at the 2nd page of the document for our Youth schedule). Our first meet is this Thursday at 4:00p at PVHS (so there won't be practice at 3:00 - just the meet at 4:00, registration at 3:50). There is a $1 per event fee - pay (cash only) and register at the meet.

PV Invite: Our track meet is coming up at the end of the month, but it will get here way sooner than we think. We need help with a few things: athletes need to bring drinks to sell at concessions - boys: gatorade 20 oz. size, girls: water: 16.9 oz (bring as many as you can in your situation, you can bring these in anytime this month); Sponsor (see below) - we need everyone to get their sponsors in by Monday (its a great way to get some of your fees paid); Parent help - we always need some help with concessions and running the meet; let us know through the form on the Parent-Athlete Meeting if you can help out.

Fundraising/Sponsors: You can find sponsor papers over on the right column of this blog. If you'd like some help with paying your participation fees, hotel fees, uniform, spirit pack and so on, go get some sponsors to help you out. *IMPORTANT INFO* with each sponsor, we need $25 turned into the finance office to put their name onto the invite t-shirt and website and stuff. The rest of their donation can go to you for TRACK. However, anything that you turn in to the school goes toward the whole team and can't get applied just to your fees. So make sure you keep everything but $25 from each sponsor and then you can take that "extra" money in to the finance office and pay the fee yourself (or use for whatever other TRACK things you need). If you have questions, please talk to Coach Holt first. Sponsors need to be turned in by March 9th to get on PV Invite shirts.

If you have yet to check out the Parent-Athlete Meeting info, please hit the link and look through the slides (both parents and athletes); we do need record of who has looked through the info, so fill out the form at the end. And parents, also sign up to help at the PV Invite if you can.

Thought of the Week: "Only the guy who isn't rowing has time to rock the boat."
-Halee Edwards
As we get ready to head into competition, the most important thing we can be doing to build toward our team's success is to be helping build toward our team's success. If you are fully committed and working your hardest, the only thing you will have time for if be committed and working your hardest. There won't be time for the little and unimportant bickering and complaining that tears teams apart. And not only will you be building up the team, you may be surprised to find the amount of growth you have within yourself.

One last thing... It's getting hot, DRINK MORE WATER
Okay, one more last thing... try and get more sleep (especially with the time change)
