Week of Jan. 20-25

Another great week! The season is starting to move along and many of you are putting in a lot of great work. Let's keep recruiting and encouraging friends to come join us and give track a try (there is something for everyone). Also, be hoping, praying, crossing fingers or whatever your beliefs are to have some nice warm sunny weather for a week or two so we can get the track finished up

Saturday is the Mr. PVHS 5K and 1 mile Fun Run. We encourage everyone and their families (not just distance runners) to come participate and help raise $ for a very deserving family.

Also, the Root Beer Mile will be held on Feb. 10th (Monday). This is the XC fundraiser for Mr. PVHS. We want everyone (not just distance runners) to participate. Suggested registration donation amount is $25. Start collecting your donations from family, friends, business, etc... (EVEN if you don't want to run - for some weird reason! - we want everyone to donate). You can donate by getting your $ to sponsor a runner or bring the money to Jessica Hill or Coach Holt and will deposit it to the Finance Office. Venmo donation to @Dave-Holt77 and mention Mr. PVHS and your money will also be transferred to the Finance Office.

Schedule for the Week:
Monday - distance runners: meet at Maverick roundabout at 8:00a and carpool over to Hurricane for long run. Sprint and field: no practice
Tuesday - Friday - regular practice schedule 3:00p-5:00p
Tuesday & Thursday - weights at 6:15a-7:00a for anyone who isn't lifting (such as distance runners, maybe some sprinters)
Saturday - talk to event coach for practice schedule

Youngsters: Practice for our 6th-8th grade developmental camp will start in toward the end of February. Until then, our Youngsters can come out with the HS if parents are okay with it.

Indoor Schedule: Final call out for indoor. If you are interested in running any indoor races, talk to Coach Holt. He'll get you the information about meets and registration. Indoor is a pretty fun thing to do and a fun way to start off your competition season early in the year.

Thought of the Week: "Poor sleep = Poor performance. Athletes sleeping less than 8 hours/night won't see much benefit from their training, nutrition and preparations. Getting 8 hours of sleep is more important than (everything else). Sleep matters most!"
-Jonathan J. Marcus
Guarantee this won't be the last time we bring this us... Get MORE SLEEP! If 8 hours is an unreasonable goal at this time, try getting 15 more minutes/night for a week. Then get 15 more the next week. Sometimes it's hard because we aren't used to going to bed early, or maybe we have a lot of commitments that keep us up late, or maybe we haven't created healthy habits of managing time and are still working on homework and such later into the evening. Well, start working on fixing those things. If performing well is something you really want to do, you will organize your day and talk to those who influence you to get more sleep. That is all... Get MORE SLEEP!
