Week of Jan. 27-Feb. 1

We are really getting close to the official start of our season. So all those friends and classmates who've said they are going to come out to track, now is the time to give them a supporting hand to lead them out to practice. Each of you are really going to see the benefit of the hard work you are putting in now. Help everyone else understand this and let's get everyone out (who isn't part of a winter sport).

Thanks for so many of you supporting the Mr. PVHS 5K. Keep getting out and getting involved with fundraising for Gavin; here's another great opportunity...

The Root Beer Mile will be held on Feb. 10th (Monday). This is the XC fundraiser for Mr. PVHS. We want everyone (not just distance runners) to participate. Suggested registration donation amount is $25. Start collecting your donations from family, friends, business, etc... (EVEN if you don't want to run - for some weird reason! - we want everyone to donate). You can donate by getting your $ to sponsor a runner or bring the money to Jessica Hill or Coach Holt and will deposit it to the Finance Office. Venmo donation to @Dave-Holt77 and mention Mr. PVHS and your money will also be transferred to the Finance Office.

Schedule for the Week:
Monday - Friday - regular practice schedule 3:00p-5:00p
Tuesday & Thursday - weights at 6:15a-7:00a for anyone who isn't lifting (such as distance runners, maybe some sprinters)
Saturday - talk to event coach for practice schedule

Youngsters: Practice for our 6th-8th grade developmental camp will start in toward the end of February. Until then, our Youngsters can come out with the HS if parents are okay with it.

Indoor Schedule: Final call out for indoor. If you are interested in running any indoor races, talk to Coach Holt. He'll get you the information about meets and registration. Indoor is a pretty fun thing to do and a fun way to start off your competition season early in the year.

Fundraising/Sponsors: You can find sponsor papers over on the right column of this blog. If you'd like some help with paying your participation fees, hotel fees, uniform, spirit pack and so on, go get some sponsors to help you out. *IMPORTANT INFO* with each sponsor, we need $25 turned into the finance office to put their name onto the invite t-shirt and website and stuff. The rest of their donation can go to you for TRACK. However, anything that you turn in to the school goes toward the whole team and can't get applied just to your fees. So make sure you keep everything but $25 from each sponsor and then you can take that "extra" money in to the finance office and pay the fee yourself (or use for whatever other TRACK things you need). If you have questions, please talk to Coach Holt first.

Participation Fee/Register My Athlete/Physical: Let's get these all taken care of soon. Registermyathlete is super easy and only takes a few minutes to do if you have your physical on file. If you don't have a physical from this year yet, you can still do the registermyathlete just also get your physical scheduled and taken care of ASAP.

Thought of the Week: This is a longer one... take a look at this list and bring your favorite idea to practice and we are going to share them with each other.
My 10 bits of advice for today's generation (by Allistair McCaw):
1. The reward is in the journey not the destination. Embrace it and all the lessons it gives.
2. Don't take yourself so seriously, nobody else does.
3. Work harder than anyone you know.
4. You don't always have to agree, but you can always respect others opinions.
5. Fail, take risks, but leave no regrets.
6. Find greatness in everyday. Remember it's within YOU, not in things or achievements.
7. Do what others aren't willing to do, because that is where opportunity lies.
8. Be grateful, kind, humble, and give thanks to those who care and support you.
9. In life, it's not what you get, it's who you become along the way that matters most.
10. Like it or not, the world owes you nothing
